2016 PARADE INFORMATION
Date: Saturday, December 3, 2016 Time: Judging at 3pm Parade starts at 4 p.m.
Theme: Peace on Earth Entry Fee: $20 non-refundable fee per entry
Cancellation: Parade will not be cancelled due to weather conditions unless cancelled by parade officials.
Line-Up: Line up will begin at 2:30 pm. Please check in with parade officials for line-up number and position. Floats and entries will be lined up around Tractor Supply, Black Mountain Elementary School, beside Super 8 Motel, and on Flat Creek Road.
Awards: To be judged, units/floats must be decorated and in their assigned positions by 3 pm.
Entries will be judged (1st, 2nd and 3rd place)
Identification: All entries must be decorated and have a sign or banner identifying their organization, church, school, sport, etc.
Music: Entries are encouraged to use appropriate music and creativity to add to the festive atmosphere of the parade.
Regulations: All entries must be decorated appropriate for the theme: Peace on Earth. No one may be dressed as Santa or Mrs. Claus.. Entries shall not be controversial or political in nature.
No one may distribute literature of any kind. No consumption of alcoholic beverages.
All children under the age of 12 must have adult chaperones. Participants riding floats must ride inside – no sitting on edges or dangling feet. Children must be securely seated and supervised. Please use extreme caution if disbursing candy.
Animals: Animals must be trained and accustomed to being controlled under parade conditions. Dogs must be on a leash. Horses must be provided with sanitation measures – bagging, diapering, or “scoopers” to follow and clean up waste in the staging/parking areas and along the parade route. Responsible signature required on application.
Vehicles: All vehicles used in the parade should be fully insured and driven by licensed drivers.
Motorcycles, motorbikes, scooters, go-carts, and 4-wheelers are not allowed in the parade. Motorcycles ride as a group in front of the parade (leaving from Moose Lodge, Ridgecrest).
Each party agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the other party from and against any and all claims, losses, liability, cost or expenses arising out of bodily injury of any person or property damage, but only to the extent that such claims are caused by negligence, misconduct, or other fault of the indemnitor, its agents, employees, or contractors. Drivers must have a full range of vision or spotters and must maintain a safe speed with a space of 1 car length between entries.
Route: The parade will begin at Flat Creek Road and proceed west along State Street to Craigmont Road. The parade will end at Craigmont Road intersection. Large vehicles should proceed on Hwy 70 until they can disburse – do not turn onto narrow Craigmont Road. Smaller vehicles may turn onto Craigmont Road if proceeding to Lake Tomahawk. Please do not try to re-enter State Street until all parade entries have disbursed and normal traffic has resumed.
Applications: Applications must be completed in full and submitted with fee to the Chamber office by Tuesday, November 29, 2016. The Black Mountain Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to restrict, limit, accept or reject any unit at any time.
