Black Mountain Center for the Arts: Public Art Tour
Black Mountain is home to an amazing collection of several permanent murals and sculptures. Make this tour your own by picking and choosing the art works you would like to see or make a day of it and see them all!
Start at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts to pick up a detailed Art Tour Guide. From here you will see several works by local artists, including “Community” by Scott Allred and Jeremy Russell. At Almost 60′ x 40′, this is by far the largest mural in town. Created in 2019, this piece depicts the many wonderful art forms that happen inside BMCA.
Also, behind BMCA, check out our metal sculptures, concrete relief, and ceramic tile mural. Around the corner you will find “Grey Eagle Rock”. Can you find the hidden black bear?
Julia Burr is a local sculptor with five public works in Black Mountain. Drive over to Veteran’s Park and Riverwalk Park to see several of her pieces.
Did you know that Roberta Flack was born in Black Mountain? Check out her mural on the side of the Black Mountain Brewing building and grab a brew.
Head to Town Square to view two fun pieces by local sculptor, Dan Howchyn, and head across the street to will find the “Spirit” mural at the White Horse Black Mountain building.
