Mosaic Mirrors Workshop

Whether you have dabbled in mosaics before or are completely new, this class will introduce you to the ancient art form of mosaics through the creation of your own, unique mosaic mirror. In the first session, you will learn the basics of mosaic design, select and cut/break your ceramic pieces and adhere them to your mirror. In the second session, you will learn how to grout your mirror and will have a number of colors of grout to choose from. After just two sessions you will leave with a wonderful mirror and the knowledge to make mosaics of different shapes and sizes. See my general guidelines and links for mosaics here.

What to Bring (Optional): All materials and supplies will be provided, but you may want to bring an apron and/or special items to add to your piece, such as ceramic or china plates, cups, tiles – broken or whole. Maybe you have been saving a broken piece of china from grandma’s collection and didn’t know what to do with it! Now’s your chance to give it a new purpose in life. If you have mixed media, like scrabble letters, sea shells, costume jewelry, bring that too. For ideas, check out sites like Etsy or Pinterest. We will not be working with stained glass, so please don’t bring that for this project. I will provide glass mosaic pieces if you are interested.
